Anonymous said: Is the concept of love real?
People act as if real numbers are somehow better than imaginary numbers. This is a false idea. All numbers are constructs that we use to understand and make predictions about the world and give each other headaches. I don’t know what’s real, my best understanding of what’s real says that my mind is the result of an accidental brute force algorithm with a completely asinine fitness function. I think of reality as a mysterious and incomprehensible mess that I have draped my perceptions and understandings over because they are all I have and that is the only place to put them. As far as the concept of love goes, whatever it means, I find it useful in my own pitiful attempts to make meaning of my surroundings, in fact I use it even more than imaginary numbers now that I passed my complex qual last year 🎉
